Scholarship Program

The TSTA Scholarship Program is designed for deserving university students using the following selection criteria:

  • The recipient must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in an accredited university

  • The recipient must be actively engaged in the university’s agricultural sciences department.

  • The recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  • Preference given to students who display leadership and have a desire to impact the seed industry.​

Funds are given to Texas universities for internal administration using the above selection criteria.

 

The following are the current endowments from TSTA:

  1. Texas Tech University - Don Ator Memorial Scholarship Endowment

    • Qualifications: Undergraduate; Dept of Plant and Soil Sciences with an academic focus on crops or soils.

    • Established in 1998

  2. Buz Poage Memorial Texas Seed Trade Association Scholarship Endowment

  3. Elaine Wilson Memorial Scholarship Endowment

    • Established in 2019

  4. TSTA / American Cottonseed Delinters’ Association Scholarship

    • Qualifications: Undergraduate or graduate; minimum 3.0 GPA; major in soil science, crop science or agronomy

    • Established in 2007

  5. Texas A&M University

  6. Tarleton State University

    • West Texas A&M University - Rusty Smallwood Memorial Scholarship

    • Established in 2025
